WHY WE CONDUCT THE DATA-DRIVEN COMPETITION IN VIETNAM

The Vietnam4Future Challenge is a national-level competition where high school students become economic analysts and business solution innovators. Through this unique program, participants will dive deep into real-world economic datasets, covering critical topics like:

Competition Rules

To ensure a fair and productive competition experience, all participants must adhere to the following rules

Important Rules

  • All participants in the competition must be of high school age (14-18 years old at time or registration).

  • Participants may compete individually or in teams of up to five students. Teams can include members from the same high school or from different high schools.

  • All participants must register for the competition. If competing as a team, only one registration is required per team, but all team members' information must be included in the registration.

  • All competition entries must present original ideas, products, or content and must not be copied from any existing sources. All competition entries must be delivered in English.

  • The competition entries received after the submission deadline will not be accepted.

  • The competition entries must not violate laws or trademarks.

  • The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any individual or team, or remove any competition entries, that is deemed inappropriate, offensive, or disruptive to other participants or the integrity of the competition.

  • Judges will use the Scoring Criteria approved by a team of professors.

  • Violation of any rule will result in disqualification.

Note: The competition organizers reserve the right to modify these rules at any time. Any changes will be communicated to all registered participants.

Concept is a novel idea that offers significant differentiation to create a new market space where there is no competition.
Between 5 and 3
Similar to existing products/services amid. The concept offers significant differentiation from the competition, but it does not create a new market space.
Between 3 and 1
Concept offers perceivable differentiation but only for existing products.
Market Potential (20%)
Position the concept solves is significant with a wide appeal.
Between 5 and 3
Problem the concept solves is either significant for a small set of customers or less significant but appealing to more users.
Between 3 and 1
Problem the concept solves is neither significant nor common.
Commercial Viability & Scalability (20%)
Business model makes a compelling argument for commercial viability and highlights the potential of mass adoption.
Between 5 and 3
Business model: commercially viable but limited growth seems plausible.
Between 3 and 1
The concept does not seem commercially viable.
Technical Feasibility (20%)
No new technology is required, or the technology needed to develop the concept already exists and is feasible.
Between 5 and 3
Some of the technology required to develop the concept exists, but likely not at a feasible price point.
Between 3 and 1
Technology required to develop the concept is not fetched or not feasible at all.
Quality of Description (20%)
The concept is clearly articulated using the Vietnam4Future Challenge tools and frameworks and presented in an organized and enthusiastic manner and shows intended and enthusiasm.
Between 5 and 3
Message is somewhat clear and articulated in a good manner and enthusiasm but the product/service descriptions are average level.
Between 3 and 1
Message is unclear and group shows confusion. The group is unable to describe how the product/service works in a way that's understandable by the judges.

All criteria are weighted equally at 20% of the total score, details may be subject to change

Objectives

    To test and enhance participants' understanding of AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics through real-world applications, case studies, and problem-solving.

    To develop technical business skills such as critical thinking, decision making, collaboration, and communication skills.

    To foster entrepreneurial and leadership skills among high school students.

Eligibility

    Suitable for high school students interested in economics, business, business analytics, finance, and management. Besides, all high school students are encouraged to participate.

    Participants can compete individually or in teams.

Preliminary Round (Online)

  • 🎯

    The participating teams must submit: a resume of each member (maximum 2 pages), summary slides (5 slides) of the idea, and an introduction video (max 5 minutes).

  • 🎯

    Your idea can take the form of a physical product or an innovative economic solution or proposal, tackling a current societal challenge. You should include the following key information, but not limited to, in your summary slides and the video: What problem(s) your idea aims to solve; How unique your idea is; How your idea tackles these issues; and your plan to implement the solution.

  • 🎯

    50% of the teams will be selected to attend the finals.

Finals

  • 🎯

    Selected teams will attend customized coaching sessions and receive consultation to complete their project.

  • 🎯

    Finalists may choose to attend the final coronation either in person or virtually.

  • 🎯

    During the final coronation, finalists present entrepreneurial ideas, followed by questions from judges.

  • 🎯

    Judges select the top 20, top 10 and then top 5.

  • 🎯

    These 5 teams participate in a debate, where their fellow teams pose questions.

  • 🎯

    After the debate, the judges determine the placements (2nd runner-up, 1st runner-up, and winner).
